Five Nunavik radio stations receive subsidies from the Government of Quebec as part of a provincial financial assistance program for Native radio stations.

Seventeen stations will receive $ 10,000 each, as part of a large investment of $ 170,000, the Quebec Minister of Culture and Communications announced on Monday.

“These radios are a very important vehicle of communication in Aboriginal communities, and that is why our government is keen to support them,” said Nathalie Roy.

“Our investments contribute to the vitality of communities and contribute to the influence of these rich cultures, while allowing the promotion of Aboriginal languages.

The following five stations in Nunavik will receive the grants:

  • Radio FM CKUJ in Kuujjuaq
  • Kangiqsualujjuaq Community Radio
  • Puvirnituup Tusautinga CKPV FM
  • Qarqalik radio station in Kangiqsujuaq
  • Tusarvik FM station in Salluit
