According to the report by Hans India, the radio channels will not only provide information and news to inmates but also entertain them.

They can enjoy entertainment programs as well as information related to health and social issues. Alka Sonkar, director of the prison, was quoted as saying by Hans India: “The administration wants the prisons to look like correctional institutions. Through this radio channel, inmates will learn about what is happening in the world. “

It will act as a medium for inmates to tell their own stories and also to share their experiences.

Alka credited CM Shivraj Singh for the initiative and said, “He is sensitive about it and gave a lot of encouragement. We started the radio station taking proper permission for it.”
