Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur today inaugurated high-power transmitters at one of the world’s highest radio stations at Humbatingla in Kargil Ladakh. The Minister inaugurated two high power 10 kW transmitters of the FM radio station All India Radio and Doordarshan at an altitude of 13,000,300 feet from mean sea level at Humbatingla in Batalik de Kargil. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur today inaugurated high-power transmitters at one of the world’s highest radio stations at Humbatingla in Kargil Ladakh. The Minister inaugurated two high power 10 kW transmitters of the FM radio station All India Radio and Doordarshan at an altitude of 13,000,300 feet from mean sea level at Humbatingla in Batalik de Kargil. The transmitters would improve transmission and range in the region, especially in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Thakur said that the opening of the services of two transmitters AIR and DD together is a milestone for the region’s public broadcaster. He said the new transmitters would counter the neighbor’s propaganda and reach the right information to the public. The Minister also congratulated the services of All India Radio in bringing government projects and programs to the most remote places in the Ladakh region.

Anurag Thakur informed that thirty thousand units of DD Free Plats with 130 channels will be distributed free to the public in the border village. He said the unique cultures of Kargil and Leh in Ladakh will be presented to the world through increased airtime on All India Radio and Doordarshan in Ladakh. Within this framework, he said, the Himalayan Film Festival was inaugurated to encourage the film industry to project Ladakh as an industry destination.

The Autonomous Development Council of Ladakh, Kargil, CEC Feroz Ahmed Khan and MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal also spoke on this occasion. All India Radio Senior Managing Director N. Venudhar Reddy and Doordarshan Managing Director Mayank Agarwal also participated in the inaugural program. Previously, Anurag Thakur had inspected Humbatingla’s high power transmitters, relay installations and inquired about the technical specifications of the transmission and range.
