A group partially funded by liberal billionaire George Soros is set to buy 18 Hispanic radio stations in 10 different markets, but conservatives are fighting back, calling it a ‘stench of desperation’ to control Latino voters who have dropped out of the Party democrat.
Steve Cortes, who was a member of former President Trump’s Hispanic Advisory Council, believes Soros’ latest move is a clear sign that liberals are “rightly concerned about the incredible gains among Hispanics for the America First movement.” which caused many of them to abandon the Democratic Party
“The radicalism of Democrats today has effectively left former Democratic-leaning Latinos as political orphans,” Cortes told Fox News Digital. “Hispanics are increasingly embracing America First’s combination of cultural conservatism and patriotic populist economics.”
DESANTIS CAMPAIGN RETURNS TO SOROS-FUNDED ELECTORAL ‘MANIPULATION’ WITH ADS BUYING ON HISPANIC RADIO NETWORK
The formation of the Latino Media Network, a new network made up of the 18 Hispanic radio stations, was announced last week and was partially funded by Lakestar Finance, an investment group affiliated with Soros Fund Management. The deal is pending regulatory approval but is expected to close later this year, giving the new management plenty of time to make changes before the 2024 election.
Jess Morales Rocketto, a former employee of Hillary for America and the AFL-CIO, and Stephanie Valencia, a former White House employee during the Obama administration, run the company and say their purchase on the multitude of media markets will give them “access to one-third of the Hispanic population” in the United States, according to an interview conducted by Axios.
GEORGE SOROS THROWS $1M BEHIND STACEY ABRAMS’ SECOND GUBERNATORIAL RACE
The proposed investment comes as Democrats continue to grow in concern over the party’s loss of support from large swaths of Hispanic voters. Latino Media Research Center director Jorge Bonilla believes the Soros-funded Latino Media Network’s purchase of these stations “smells like desperation” ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
“The left, feeling increasingly legitimate towards Hispanics but unable to persuade them, openly seeks to control their access to information. This is the real goal of the ‘disinformation in Spanish’ campaign of recent years. censorship and control,” Bonilla said. told Fox News Digital.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tweeted: “A front group run by left wing operatives and funded by Soros money is buying Spanish radio stations because they still don’t realize the reason they’re bleeding Hispanic support isn’t ‘misinformation’, it’s their socialism.”
BORDER CRISIS, ECONOMY DRIVING HISPANIKS TO GOP IN HISTORICALLY DEEP BLUE SOUTH TEXAS
Religious freedom, parental rights, abortion, belief in the free market system, and comprehensive immigration reform that favors migrants who enter the country legally are among the topics that have caused many Hispanics to drop out. the Democrats.
The mainstream media has been sounding the alarm about Hispanic voters jumping ship for years, and recent headlines include “Why Couldn’t the GOP Turn Off Conservative Latino Voters” and “Latinos Have- they really moved to the Republican Party?” House Latinos Rally to Strengthen Ranks and Influence” and “Hispanic Voters’ Support for CBS News’ GOP Grows.”
Former President Trump made significant gains among Latino voters in the 2020 election compared to 2016, which contributed to his comfortable victory in Florida. MSNBC aired a “Field Report” earlier this month about why they shifted to the right, blaming in part “misinformation” and paranoia about communism and socialism.
Bonilla previously called it a “panic move” by Soros and noted that WAQI 710 in Miami’s “iconic anti-communist” radio Mambí was among the stations involved in the deal while covering news for MRC Latino.
“Mambí has long been a thorn in the side of an empowered left that demands absolute control over what Hispanic media consumes,” Bonilla wrote. “With this decision, the left is not only establishing a beachhead, it is also grabbing the crown jewel of the opposition. Given the outbursts of joy among Hispanic progressives on social media when the deal was announced, it’s hard to imagine Mambí not closing down or ‘restructured’ once the deal closes.”
5 REASONS WHY THE LEFT IS LOSING LATINOS
Bonilla is not the only person concerned about Mambí, as an internal mutiny is brewing at the station, according to an insider.
“They hate us, but I will never get $1 from George Soros, so my days are coming to an end,” a current Radio Mambí employee told Fox News Digital.
The staffer said his colleagues feared conservative voices would be silenced and advertisers flee as a result – if the station still exists after the deal is struck.
“They’re doing this to shut us up…it’s a dangerous situation,” they added. “Honesty, I’m afraid. This is absolutely crazy.”
Despite the concern, Bonilla thinks “‘Radio Soros’ can’t fill shelves with baby formula, bring gas prices down to $2/gallon, solve the border crisis, or reduce crime in cities,” so the move might not be a success. for Democrats.
“This is an important development in that it establishes a marker, but not a permanent change or even a game-changer, given the left’s current near-monopoly on media in Spanish,” continued Bonilla. “One cannot imagine that this venture will succeed in arousing the shame of the people of the Rio Grande Valley to change their existing voting habits, or that the potential closure of the flagship Cuban-American radio station will go unaddressed. .”
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has already retaliated by buying an ad buy on two Miami radio stations acquired by the new left-wing radio network.
“The Soros-funded radical left is waging a scheme to manipulate local media in Florida to impose their Marxist agenda on voters,” DeSantis tweeted. “In Florida, we reject the professional left and its attempt to infiltrate our state and we will always stand for truth and freedom.”

The new DeSantis ad, which will air on Radio Mambí and WQBA-AM, warns voters against buying media and touts his stance against “left-wing disinformation” as he continues the “fight against socialism in America”.
The DeSantis campaign told Fox News Digital “Governor Ron DeSantis is taking [on] Soros on his own turf with a Spanish-language ad purchased from the Soros Network, serving as a public service announcement to Hispanic Floridians warning of pro-socialism, the radical program behind The Latino Media Network
