Fresno State Gets New Radio Broadcast Partner

After outsourcing radio broadcasting efforts, Fresno State Athletics is building its own network for its fans.

Fresno State Athletics will stream on iHeartMedia via the new Bulldogs Sports Network starting July 1.

Fresno’s One Putt Broadcasting previously ran the radio broadcasting rights for Fresno State Athletics.

Zachary Fraser, managing director of Bulldog Sports Properties, described the partnership as an investment on behalf of Bulldog Sports Properties which the department says will generate long-term income. The exact cost was not disclosed.

Previously, Fresno State Athletics outsourced its broadcast, decoupling revenue stream and segmenting fan reach, according to a new release. Now under Bulldogs Sports Network, broadcast and media efforts will remain internal. Revenue will be generated directly for Fresno State Athletics.

“This exciting new partnership between iHeartMedia and Fresno State Athletics is a huge win for Bulldog fans up and down the valley,” said Steve Darnell, iHeartMedia zone president. “In addition to delivering live gaming action, our iHeartMedia influencers will create exciting audio, digital, social and podcast content to enhance the Bulldog Sports Network across all of our iHeartMedia station brands in Central California. “

Live matches will be broadcast on the radio for football, men’s and women’s basketball, softball and baseball. The Bulldog Sports Network will also host trainers and highlights throughout the year which will air live on select channels. It will also be available on a podcast channel through the iHeartRadio and Fresno State Bulldogs apps.

Eventually, the amount of content creation and the volume of podcasts and media streaming could create jobs, but not immediately, Fraser said.

Fans can tune in to their radios anywhere from Sacramento to Bakersfield, listen digitally statewide with the iHeartRadio mobile app, or listen from around the world through the Fresno State Bulldogs app.

New podcasts and live content featuring coaches, student-athletes and contributors from Fresno State will be constantly developed and will be broadcast on popular radio stations such as B95, 102.7 The Wolf, 203.7 The Beat.

IHeartRadio’s partnership with Fresno State will be on display with in-stadium support and tailgate exhibit.

It will also make advertising for business partners more transparent, and since advertising has always been segmented, Fraser expects to save advertising partners money.
