Star of Hope invites the community to a monumental Gospel, Jazz and Blues celebration August 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. 4601 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri. The celebration will be held at the Community Christian Church on the Country Club Plaza. Tickets may be purchased at http://www.starofhope.org/ for only $10. Unsold tickets remaining will be sold at the door. On Jan. 12, the country of Haiti suffered first-handedly what is called apocalyptic destruction. Thousands of buildings crumpled and collapsed, taking with them tens of thousands of men, women and children beneath rock and rubble of every size and shape. The death toll of the capital city was unrelenting. In the communities where Star of Hope works; schools, churches, and homes were obliterated or severely damaged.

 Produced by Musication, the 90-minute musical celebration will feature singer, Melanie Ryan, international award winning French dancer/choreographer and singer, Louis Bar and Company; and High Vibe featuring Max Berry, Denny Osburn, and "Michael O" Oshiver. Representatives from Star of Hope Haiti will give firsthand accounts of the current relief efforts. Donations are kindly accepted.

Star of Hope is a non-profin 501(c)(3) organization with thirteen projects in Haiti that benefit more thatn 6,000 children who were affected by the destruction. The mission of Star of Hope is to carry out Christian and humanitarian programs, principally involvng the care, up-bringing and education of children and youth. Christian Karaoke in Killeen

Twice a month, muffled voices reverberate through the glass windows of the Fellowship Cove church downtown.

Once inside, the noise becomes more recognizable as songs of praise fill every square foot of the building and people rotate for their turn onstage at Christian Karaoke.

The event, which begins around 7 p.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month, start with a similar philosophy as the church they share the building with.

"He just wanted to praise, with other people who love to sing, in a free environment," Max McConnell said about Ken Allen, who begain the group about six years ago.

Few genres are limited in this get together -- R&B, gospel, rock, country -- and everyone, of all ages and denominations, are welcome.
